Evaluation Process

  1. Double Blind (Confidential) Review and Evaluation Process

The double blind refereeing is carried out in order to publish high quality scientific studies in our journal,. This method forms the basis of the objective evaluation process of scientific studies.

Referee reports have a decisive place in the publication quality of the journal.

In the double blind refereeing method, the identities of the authors and referees are concealed.

Personal information of the authors should not be included in the articles uploaded to the system.

  1. Preliminary Control Process

The manuscripts submitted to Art Alasia are first evaluated by the Editorial Board. At this stage, manuscripts that do not comply with the purpose, requirements and the scope of the journal, are poor in terms of language and expression rules in Turkish and English, contain significant scientific errors, have no original value and do not meet the publication policies and requirements are to be rejected. For articles of which status is undecided, further evaluation process is carried by the expert editorial board members.

In the preliminary control process, the manuscript is first analysed in terms of journal writing rules. Then, the editorial board examines the introduction and literature, method, findings, conclusion, evaluation and discussion sections of the manuscript in detail in terms of journal publication policies, scope and originality. Manuscripts that are deemed appropriate are subjected to Turnitin or iThenticate plagiarism scanning programme and are taken into the referee assignment process according to the result of the similarity report.

  1. Referee Appointment Process

As a result of the preliminary evaluation of the editorial board, articles that comply with the publication policies and spelling rules and meet the conditions of a scientific research article are included in the evaluation process and sent to two referees who are experts in the field.

  1. Referee Evaluation Process

The peer review process (including the time for the editorial board to appoint expert reviewers for the manuscript) varies between 1-3 months.

Referee evaluations are generally based on the originality of the manuscript, the methodology used, compliance with ethical rules, consistent presentation of findings and results, and adequacy in terms of literature.

The referee may accept the direct publication of an article, may find it inappropriate for publication, or may request corrections to the article.

After reviewing the corrections of a manuscript, the referee may decide on its suitability or, if necessary, request a re-correction.

As for the article to be included in the publication process, at least two referees must approve the publication. If one of the referees expresses a negative opinion, the editor-in-chief may appoint a third referee if deemed appropriate for publication or if the article is rejected.

When the reports of the two referees are received, the author is provided with the referees' opinions, explanations and corrections, if any.

The editorial board may request corrections from the authors in addition to the referees' opinions. These corrections can be in various forms such as editing the article according to the journal's writing rules, checking the article in terms of spelling and vocabulary, making the section headings appropriate and adding missing sections if there are any missing sections, and conducting a literature review.

  1. Publication Process

Authors are given between 10-20 days to make the corrections required  by the referees or editors, without disrupting the process. Additional time may be given to the author if necessary provided that the journal calendar is not disrupted.

Articles, of which corrections cannot be made by the author in time, are left to the next issue of the journal in line with the author's request.

Authors, who do not want to make corrections, can terminate the process by notifying the editorial board. Articles that receive corrections but are not corrected cannot be re-evaluated for the next issues of the journal.

The corrected article is sent for the referee control.

After the referee approval, the Editorial Board and the Puplishing Board decide whether the article is eligible to be published or not and in which issue it will be published.

In accordance with the publication policies of the journal, the number of articles to be published in each issue cannot exceed the predetermined interval. Thus, the articles accepted for publication are placed in the order of publication based on the first date of arrival and the equal distribution of topics.

In terms of the validity, reliability, quality and accessibility of the journal, only one work of an author is evaluated in an issue.
