All rights of the published works are reserved by Art Alasia magazine. The publication rights of the published articles and texts belong to Art Alasia magazine. Legal and scientific responsibilities regarding the content of published research articles belong to their authors. It is obligatory to use the images (photographs, pictures, drawings, plans, etc.) included in the articles by citing the source and to obtain permission from the authors for copyrighted material. The legal responsibility in such cases also belongs to the authors. The sources of the images in the article should be indicated in accordance with the referencing rules of the journal and permission must be obtained from the copyright holder for copyrighted materials, and if the images belong to the author, the name of the author must be written under the image, indicating that it belongs to the author.

Articles submitted to Art Alasia for publication must not have been previously published or sent for review for publication in another journal at the same time. Articles that are found to have been submitted to another journal at the same time will be rejected by the editor. A plagiarism report must be obtained from one of the Turnitin or IThenticate plagiarism detection programmes to ensure plagiarism control of articles submitted to the journal. Turnitin or IThenticate plagiarism report should be sent to the journal as a document that will not be evaluated together with the article. 

If the article is related to artefacts exhibited in a museum, the date and number of the permission letter of the museum directorate or the relevant senior management should be indicated with the symbol (*) under the heading ‘Footnotes’, and a copy should be sent to the journal as a document that will not be evaluated together with the article.

A permission letter must be obtained from the relevant public institutions and organisations for the studies to be carried out on all kinds of historical remains such as archaeological sites or ruins. The date and number of the permission letter should be indicated with the symbol (**) under the heading ‘Footnotes’, and a copy should be sent to the journal as a document that will not be evaluated together with the article.

In an article involving third parties, the permission of the ethics committee must be obtained and the date and number of the ethics committee permission letter must be indicated with the symbol (***) under the heading ‘Footnotes’, and a copy must be sent to the journal as a document that will not be evaluated together with the article.

 

General Information

If the article is produced from a master's or doctoral thesis, ‘number’ footnote should be added to the title of the article and under the heading ‘Footnotes’, the author of the thesis, the name of the thesis, the university, institute, department and supervisor information should be added.

If the article has been supported by any project or received financial support from any institution/organisation, after the conclusion section, under the left-justified Financial Support heading; project type, code, institution/organisation information and the phrase ‘Financial support has been received.’ should be written justified.

In article applications submitted for publication in Art Alasia journal; Ethics Committee Permission Certificate must be obtained for articles prepared using techniques such as surveys, interviews, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments (involving third parties).  A copy of the ethics committee permission document must be sent to the journal as a document, this will not be evaluated along with the article.

Article Writing Rules

  1. Articles submitted to Art Alasia should be in Microsoft Word format.
  2. The title of the article must be centred on the page and should not exceed 12 words.
  3. The Turkish and English titles of the articles should be written in ‘Times New Roman 12 pt. font size, bottom to bottom, centred, all words in capital letters and bold’.
  4. Under the title of the article, the author's ‘academic title, name, surname, institution, faculty, department, (if any, the research centre to which it is affiliated), e-mail address, ORCID number, must be written in 11 pt.
  5. Authors who do not have an ORCID number are required to register at https://orcid.org/. For articles with more than one author, the ORCID number of all authors must be added.
  6. Turkish and English abstract/abstract (250-350 words), one line spacing and 6 keywords must be in 10 pt.
  7. For Turkish articles, after the Turkish abstract, an extended abstract in English between 800-1000 words must be written in one line spacing and 12 pt. font size. For English articles, after the English abstract, a Turkish extended abstract of 800-1000 words must be written as one line spacing, 12 pt. font size.
  8. Articles must consist of Introduction (including the purpose, importance, limitations and method of the research), numbered subheadings (1, 1.1., 1.2. ..........), ‘Results’ or ‘Evaluation’, ‘Discussion and Conclusion’, ‘Footnotes’ and ‘References’ sections.
  9. Images must be embedded in the text (between paragraphs) in the appropriate place (Image: 1, Image: 2 should be ordered consecutively).Each of the images to be used in the article must be in jpeg format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi (Articles containing images with poor image quality will be rejected by the editors).

    The images to be used in the article must be placed centrally on the page.

    Under the images, centred, 9 pt font size; ‘Image: 1, name of the image, (source)'. If the image belongs to the author, it must be indicated with the phrase (belongs to the author) in parentheses instead of the source.

  10. Tables must be placed in the appropriate place embedded in the text (between paragraphs) (Table: 1, Table: 2 must be listed consecutively).

    Tables to be used in the article must be placed centrally on the page by deleting vertical column divisions.

    Above the tables, centred, 9-point font size; ‘Table: 1, the name of the table, (source if quoted)’ must be indicated.

 

Article text

  1. Times New Roman must be 12 pt.
  2. The text must be written with 1.5 line spacing.
  3. The text must be justified.
  4. After the paragraphs, 1.5 line spacing and 6 nk space must be made.
  5. The parts that must be emphasised in the text should be written in italic letters.
  6. Quotations of less than five lines must be given between the lines and in quotation marks with the text font ‘Times New Roman 12 pt’.
  7. Quotations longer than five lines must be italicised in a separate paragraph, in block form and in Times New Roman 12-point font.
  8. The text of the article must be at least 6000 and at most 10000 words.
  9. It must be ensured that the number of pages of the area covered by the images to be used in the article must not be more than the text page.
  10. Images directly related to the subject of the article must be preferred by referring to comparison images.

 

Footnotes

  1. Footnotes must be given under the heading ‘Footnotes’
  2. Footnotes must be written in Times New Roman 10 pt. single line spacing
  3. Footnotes must be written justified.

Reference Style and Format

Art Alasia journal uses Chicago Style of Manual 17th Edition for in-text (author-date) and bibliography notation.

Authors who will contribute to the journal are required to organise in-text citations and create bibliographies based on the examples below.

The examples have been compiled with additions from the Chicago Style of Manual (http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html) for the convenience of authors and in order to eliminate contradictions/differences in in-text citation and referencing. Detailed information and examples about in-text citation and referencing in the bibliography with the in-text (author-date) method in Chicago format are given in the 17th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style.

 

Abbreviations

IT stands for in-text citation notation.

R stands for citation in the bibliography.

 

Notes: In in-text citations and bibliographical references, punctuation marks, parentheses, vertical and italic characters, bold and normal character spellings must be followed exactly as in the examples.

URL is given for books applied online. If the URL is given, the last access date is added.

If there is no page number, the chapter title or another number or symbol identifying the page is added.
