Publication Principles and Writing Guidelines

  1. Articles submitted to the journal must not have been published elsewhere or submitted for publication simultaneously. In multi-authored works, the contribution rates of the authors and any conflict of interest declarations must be explicitly stated in the manuscript.
  2. Only manuscripts submitted through the journal’s official website will be considered for review.
  3. For all submissions, authors must obtain an ORCID number(Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and upload their work to the journal system along with their ORCID ID.
  4. For studies requiring Ethics Committee approval, official permission from the relevant committee is mandatory. Surveys, experiments, observations, clinical and animal studies, as well as research involving personal data, are subject to ethics approval. This approval must be clearly stated within the manuscript. Manuscripts without ethical approval will not be evaluated.
  5. The main text of the submitted manuscripts of articles must not exceed 12,000 words. Any work exceeding this word limit will be returned without entering the peer-review process. Summaries, references, and footnotes are included within the word limit.
  6. The first page of the article must include the title in both Turkish and English(11 pt.), an abstract in both Turkish and English (10 pt.) of at least150 words but not exceeding 250 words, and 3 to 6 keywords in Turkish and English.
  7. Main and subheadings must be bold, aligned left (without indentation), and numbered decimally as , 1.1., 1.1.1., 1.1.2., 1.1.2.1., etc.
    • Main headingsmust be written in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
    • Subheadingsmust have only the Initial Letters
    • Headings must not exceed four levels.
    • Leave one line of space beforemain headings but no space after. Subheadings must not have any extra spacing before or after.
  8. All tables, figures, and graphicsmust be numbered sequentially and placed appropriately within the text, centered on the page.
    • Each table, figure, or graphic must have a title.
    • Titles must appear abovethe table/figure/graphic, centered, with only the First Letters Capitalized, and in 10 pt.
    • Text inside tables/figures should be between 8–10 pt.
    • Tables, figures, and graphics must be clearly readable and conform to the page layout (must not exceed page margins).
  9. Articles must be formatted according to the Article Template available on the journal’s website.
  10. Articles in Turkish must comply with the current spelling and writing rules of the Turkish Language Association (TDK) and the guidelines specified herein. If these are not followed, the Editorial Board may request resubmission after necessary revisions.
  11. After an initial editorial review, manuscripts will be sent to referees. Based on the referee reports, the Editorial Board will decide whether to publish the article, request revisions, or reject it. Authors will be notified promptly. If revisions are requested in the referee report, the author may only make changes within the specified scope of corrections. Once accepted for publication, Solem Juris Journal retains all publication rights, including full-text publication in electronic format.
  12. In footnotes and references, the Chicago Style (16th Edition, Notes & Bibliography System)is adopted. Works that do not comply with this citation style will be returned to the author.
  • Footnotes must appear at the bottom of the page, in 5 pt., single line spacing.
  • Footnote markers must be placed directly before the final punctuationwithout a space.

When citing an online book, include a URL or the name of the database. For downloadable e-book formats, name the format; if fixed page numbers are unavailable, indicate a chapter title or section.

Journal articles are generally cited with volume and issue numbers. In a footnote, include specific page numbers; in the bibliography, provide the full page range of the article.

Citations to decisions of the Court of Cassation or Regional Courts of Appeal should follow the format below. For foreign court decisions, no special format is required by the journal, but consistency must be maintained throughout the text.

  • Example 1: Yargıtay 17th Civil Chamber, E.2019/3192, K.2020/4927, September 8, 2020, (source of the decision).
  • Example 2: Ankara Regional Court of Appeal 2nd Civil Chamber, E.2016/113, K.2017/21, January 23, 2017, (source of the decision).
  1. If the reference is exactly the same as the previous footnote,Ibid.”is used instead of repeating the citation.
    When making consecutive citations to the same source, if the author, title, and page number are all identical, simply write “Ibid.”
    If citing the same source but a different page, write “Ibid., [page number]” since the source is the same, only the page number differs.
  2. When citing different works by the same author consecutively—meaning the author is the same but the book or article title is different—Idemis used instead of repeating the author’s name.
  3. All foreign wordsused within the text must be written in italics.
  4. If an abbreviationis used, the full form of the term must first appear, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses at its first mention.
