This research has been carried out on differences and similarities between Cyprus Turkish and
Cyprus Greek folk dances and folk dance music. The form of the research is descriptive and historical.
Events in history and Cyprus’ status were examined to bring out what affected Cyprus folk dance and folk
dance music. Cyprus folk dance, folk dance music, instruments, and clothes were examined. Both Turkish
and Greek written sources were gathered in order to show this information. As a result, Arab-Islam, Mediterranean, Greek, The Balkans and Anatolian culture affected Cyprus and Cyprus also was affected by
gypsies on the island. So Cyprus has a ‘multi-culture’ because a lot of nations ruled Cyprus. Because of
living in some geography together, they have similar cultures. The difference between them is religion.
The Turkish religion with the Turkish Republic and the Greek religion with Greece gradually improved.
The war between them caused them to ignore stories of each other. This is a topic to be investigated academically.
