Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the differences in the ways generation Y and Z present their dark and light triad personality traits on social media. This study was conducted using a quantitative research method and the research population consists of generation Y and Z individuals living in Erzurum. The data of study were collected between February and June 2024 with a survey consisting of a personal information sheet, the shortened dark triad personality scale and the light triad personality scale. As a result of the analyses, it was found that the dark triad personality traits presented by generation Y and Z on social media show differ. The dark triad personality traits presented by Generation Y on social media differ according to gender, marital status, actively used social media platforms, and the average time spent on social media, the light triad personality traits differ according to actively used social media platforms. The dark triad personality traits presented by Generation Z on social media differ according to marital status and the average time spent on social media, while light triad personality traits differ according to gender.
