The years 1927-1933 are a period of modernization movements in Turkey, especially in the field of architecture. Many buildings are built in Izmir per this new concept in the Republic’s first years. One of these buildings is İzmir State Theater, as it is known today, which is started in 1926 and finished in 1927. The building served as a Turkish Hearth in the early days. However, due to the establishment of Community Centers in approximately 14 centers throughout Turkey in 1932, the building started to be used as Community Centers. The building, which has been serving as the State Theater since 1956, is domed and tiled, designed in the style of the buildings of the National Architecture period. The Building of Izmir State Theater is built in the neo-classical style seen in the architecture of the Republic period of Turkey. The tiles on the exterior of the building consist of compositions with floral motifs. Although the building has undergone two important restorations to date, no serious restoration work has been done for its tiles. In this study, the situation of the Kütahya tile plates on the exterior of the building of İzmir State Theater will be evaluated and solutions for the conservation and repair of the tiles will be presented with the damage assessment plans.
