Abstract

With technological developments, the interaction of disciplines with each other is increasing day by day. Architecture, which is one of the fields exposed to this interaction, has been interacting with cinema relatively more than other disciplines in recent years. Time and space are important elements of both disciplines. Many architects are fed by cinema, and many directors or production designers are fed by architecture. In the cinema, the director presents the space to the audience as he wishes and creates a new environment with cinematographic elements. In this study, the film Parasite, which has received many international awards and highlighted the spaces almost like a movie character, is discussed. First of all, the concept of space and fictional space in cinema is examined with examples, then general information about the film parasite is given and the spaces used in the film are examined in terms of both the formation process and the class distinction in the film. As a result of the study, the differences and similarities in the way of handling space in architecture and cinema are revealed in the film Parazit, and spatial elements such as stairs, light, landscape and privacy are evaluated in the context of the expression of class distinction.
