The Near East University Center for Islamic Research (YDUISTEM), the second academic journal of theology in Cyprus, was established to provide scientific knowledge produced in the field of Islamic sciences in the world, in particular in Cyprus, to the scientific world and humanity.

Although the Faculty of Theology is new in Cyprus, more than a thousand years have passed since the island met Islam. Hz. Cyprus, who met Islam and Muslims during the reign of Osman, has stood with its own unique tone in Islamic culture and civilization on the one hand and contributed to this civilization by its own weight. Cyprus, which contributed to the emergence of Islamic philosophy, medicine, astronomy and pharmacology by the transfer of the philosophical works collected by the scientists sent by Harun er-Rashid to Baghdad during the Abbasid period, was a guiding role in Europe and Asia in terms of its strategic position. While the other side of the sufi and the jurisprudence of not only on the island, Anatolia has mentioned itself. Tens of articles on the Mevlevîhane in Nicosia in the Ottoman Archives of the Prime Ministry prove this alone. The Islamic artifacts that existed in the second Mahmut library and moved to the National Archives in Kyrenia are important in terms of showing the scientific knowledge that Cyprus possessed during the Ottoman period.

Our journal has adopted not only the articles written in Turkish which is the language of education of today's Faculty of Theology, but also accepting articles in the languages that will be monopolized by the teachers and students coming from different countries in the near future. On this occasion, since the first issue, Arabic, English and French, which is the official language of many African countries, have been accepted and published in addition to Turkish.

Our journal is published two issues per year in accordance with the criteria set by the Higher Education Council, the upper umbrella of scientific knowledge producing institutions in Turkey. For this reason, it has been based on technical and scientific criteria adopted by TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM since its first issue. As a matter of fact, it is decided to publish all academic studies, except for travel notes, symposium, conference and panel evaluations, book and article promotion, analysis and criticism, which are received by two referees. YDUILAF aims to become a publication which is scanned by international indexes, especially TR Index.
