Abstract

SMART ECO-SOCIAL VILLAGES FOR THE ELDERLY: AN EVALUATION IN THE FOCUS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

New measures are on the agenda to control the Covid-19 epidemic as an eco-social crisis. Restrictive practices for elderly people continue in many countries even in periods when the rate of spread of the pandemic slows down relatively and a controlled social life is started. Prolonged exposure to these restrictions; It causes the elderly to be at risk in many aspects, especially physical, mental and psychological health. Therefore, in addition to protecting the elderly from the pandemic, sustainable living areas are seen as an important investment area in combating the long-term effects of the pandemic on the elderly. From this point of view, the main purpose of the current review study is to explain the importance of smart eco-social villages in order to focus on sustainability, environment and health in aging policies with the Covid-19 pandemic, and thus adapt the elderly to the new normal. In this context, it is aimed to make implications from a social work perspective by explaining the place of ecological social work practices and why smart eco-social villages should be structured for the elderly in the light of national and international literature.
