Abstract

Every creature tends to adapt to the time and space in which it is located. While time forms the criteria for change, space is also a reflection of this change. People are divided into generations according to the dominant characteristics of the period in which they continued their development. Each generation has similarities and differences to the previous generation. By 2000, we see that a generation called generation Z has formed. This generation is separated from previous generations in terms of its development with technology, insatiableness and ability to make quick decisions. Generation Z, which made up the child population of our time, has been the focus of differentiation for children's museums, which are the main places where children interact. Accordingly, conceptual expressions guide the meaning and evaluation of changing and transforming understandings. The concepts of curiosity, exploration, resusentation, mechanics, undetermination, motion, versatility and harmony, based on the definitions of "child", reveal the differences between generation Z and the generations that came before it at the point of meeting the spatial requirements of children.

The aim of this study is to reveal the differentiation of children's museums that have undergon changes in the skills and behaviors of generation Z from the period in which they were established in accordance with the concepts created based on the definitions of 'Children'. Children's museums have been selected as the problem of this study to do periodic analysis at the point of reflection of the 8 concepts of the process under which the design concept is carried out. The changes undergoing by children's museums established from the first children's museums until the beginning of 2000 have been supported by literature studies. From the foundation of children's museums to the present day, the concepts of motion and me mechanics reflecting the characteristics of generation Z children have development; the concepts of reliance and versatility remain in the background.
