Abstract

In today's hospital interiors, designs that prioritize aesthetic values as well as basic functional values stand out. Because the concept of being healthy is a state of being both physically, mentally and socially well. One of the situations that will contribute to a person's mental well-being is aesthetic values. One of the most effective design elements used in creating aesthetic value in design is color.  It is not possible to improve the mood of a person who wants to receive health care by using color alone. However, many studies show that color has important effects on human psychology. With the privatization in the health sector in our country, the interior designs of many hospitals have been reconsidered, and new hospitals have also been put into service. This study; In Trabzon, it deals with the use of color in the interiors of public and private hospitals. In addition, the study aims to draw attention to the fact that color is a design element that should be considered functionally, aesthetically and psychologically. The entrance halls, outpatient clinics, doctor's rooms of the polyclinics, information and warning signs of the hospitals considered within the scope of the study were evaluated. It has been determined that the use of color in private hospitals is more careful than in public hospitals, but in these hospitals, color preferences are made on furniture rather than surfaces.
