Publication Ethics

The publication procedures in the JOURNAL OF NEAR ARCHITECTURE are to ensure the development of information in an impartial and respectable manner. The processes implemented in this direction are directly reflected in the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors. Refereed studies are studies that, embody and support the scientific method. For this reason, it is important that all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers, researchers, publisher, referees, and editors) comply with the standards for ethical principles. Within the scope of publication ethics of JOURNAL OF NEAR ARCHITECTURE, all stakeholders are expected to bear the following ethical responsibilities. While establishing the ethical duties and responsibilities below, they have been prepared as open access, taking into account the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Ethical Responsibilities of the Authors

Author(s) who have submitted articles to JOURNAL OF NEAR ARCHITECTURE are expected to follow the ethic rules below:

  • The work submitted by the author(s) must be original. If the author(s) benefit from or use other works, they are required to cite and/or cite completely and accurately.
  • Persons who do not contribute to the content intelectually in the creation of the work should not be specified as authors.
  • For all studies sent for publication; if there be any situations and relationships that may constitute a conflict should be disclosed.
  • The author(s) must have a document showing that they have the right to use the data. The necessary permissions for the research/analysis, or the consent of the experimental subjects.
  • During the framework of the evaluation processes, raw data regarding their articles can be requested from the author(s).
  • In the event that the author(s) notices an error or mistake regarding their published, early view and evaluation stage work, they are obliged to cooperate with the editor in informing, correcting or withdrawing the article with the journal editor or publisher.
  • The authors cannot have their work in the application process of more than one journal at the same time. Each application can be started following the completion of the previous application. A work published in another journal cannot be sent to JOURNAL OF NEAR ARCHITECTURE.
  • After the evaluation process is started changing the author responsibilities of work (such as changing the author's order, removing the author) cannot be proposed.

 

Ethical Duties and Responsibilities

The editor’s general role for the duties and responsibilities are listed below:

  • Making efforts to meet the information needs of readers and writers,
  • Constantly working for the development of the journal,
  • Working on the process of developing the quality of the publication works of the journal,
  • Supporting freedom of thought,
  • Ensuring academic integrity,
  • Continuing business processes without compromising intellectual property rights and ethical standards,
  • Demonstrating openness and transparency in terms of publication on issues that require correction and clarification.

Relationship with the readers
Editors should make decisions by considering the knowledge, skills, and experience expectations of and is responsible for considering the feedback from all readers, researchers, and practitioners. Attention should be paid to the fact that the published studies contribute to the reader, researcher, practitioner, and scientific literature, and that they are original.

Relationship with the authors

JOURNAL OF NEAR ARCHITECTURE Editor's duties and responsibilities towards the authors are listed below:

  • Editors make positive or negative decisions based on the importance, original value, validity, clarity of the narrative, and the journal’s goals and objectives.
  • Studies that are suitable for the scope of publication are taken to the preliminary evaluation stage as long as they do not have serious problems.
  • Editors do not ignore positive referee suggestions unless there is a serious problem with the study.
  • Authors are provided with explanatory and informative notifications and feedback.

Relationship with the referee

JOURNAL OF NEAR ARCHITECTURE Editor's duties and responsibilities towards the referees are listed below:

  • The referees are determined in accordance with the subject of the study.
  • They provide the information and guidance that referees will need during the evaluation phase.
  • Whether there is a conflict of interest between the authors and the referees is taken into consideration.
  • In the context of blind refereeing, the identity of the referees is kept confidential.
  • Reviewers are encouraged to evaluate the work in an impartial, scientific, and objective language.
  • Referees are evaluated with criteria such as timely return and performance.
  • Necessary arrangements are made for dynamically updating the referee pool.
  • Unkind and unscientific evaluations are blocked.

Relations with the Editorial Board

Editors work to ensure that all editorial board members advance the processes in accordance with editorial policies and guidelines. The members of the editorial board are informed about the publication policies through regular meetings and announcements. New editorial board members are trained on editorial policies. Editors;

  • It enables the members of the editorial board to evaluate the studies impartially and independently.
  • It determines the new editorial board members who can contribute and are suitable.
  • Submits studies suitable for the expertise of the members of the editorial board for evaluation.
  • It interacts regularly with the editorial board.
  • It organizes meetings with the editorial board for the development of publication policies and the journal at regular intervals.

Editorial and Blind Review Processes

Editors apply the ‘Blind Refereeing and Evaluation Process’ policies included in the journal’s publication policies. In this context, the editors ensure that the fair, impartial and timely evaluation process of each work is completed.      

Quality Assurance

Editors are responsible for publishing every article in the journal in accordance with journal publication policies and international standards.

Protection Of Personal Data

Editors; are obligated to ensure the protection of personal data regarding the subjects or images included in the evaluated studies. Unless the explicit request of the individuals used in the studies is documented, they are responsible for refusing the study. Also editor; The author is responsible for protecting the individual data of the referees and readers.

Ethics Committee, Human and Animal Rights
Editors are responsible for ensuring the protection of human and animal rights in the evaluated studies. Ethics committee approval for the subjects used in the studies is responsible for rejecting the workshop in cases where there is no permission for experimental research.

Precaution against Potential Abuse and Misconduct
Editors; are obliged to take precautions against possible abuse and misconduct. It is among the responsibilities of the editor to share the relevant findings, as well as to carry out a meticulous and objective investigation regarding the identification and evaluation of complaints regarding this situation. 

Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
Editors are obliged to protect the intellectual property rights of all published articles and to defend the rights of the author(s) of the journal in case of possible violations. In addition, the editors are obliged to take the necessary measures so that the contents of all published articles do not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications.

 

Constructivism and Openness to Discussion

Editors;

  • Considers the persuasive criticism of the works published in the journal and displays a constructive attitude towards these criticisms.
  • The author(s) of the criticized studies are given the right to reply.
  • Studies with negative results are not ignored or excluded.

Complaints:
Editors are responsible for carefully examining and responding to complaints from authors, referees, or readers in an enlightening and explanatory manner.

Political and Commercial Concerns:
The journal owner, publisher, and no other political or commercial factors affect the editor's independent decision-making.

Conflicts of Interest:

Editors; guarantees the independent and impartial completion of the publication process of the studies, taking into account the conflicts of interest between the author(s), referees, and other editors.

Ethic Responsibilities of the Referees:

Evaluation of all studies with 'Blind Refereeing' directly affects the quality of the publication. This process provides confidence through an objective and independent evaluation of the publication. The evaluation process of NEAR ARCHITECTURE JOURNAL is carried out with the principle of double-blind refereeing. The referees cannot contact the authors directly, evaluations and comments are forwarded to the author(s) through the tension management system. In this context, it is expected that the referees evaluating the work for the NEAR ARCHITECTURE JOURNAL have the following ethical responsibilities.

  • Only work related to the field of expertise should accept evaluation.
  • It should make an impartial and confidential evaluation.
  • If he thinks that he is facing a conflict of interest during the evaluation process, he should refuse to review the study and inform the journal editor.
  • In accordance with the principle of confidentiality, they should destroy the studies they have examined after the evaluation process. They can only use the final versions of the studies they have reviewed after they are published.
  • Make the evaluation objectively only in relation to the content of the study. Nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and commercial concerns should not be allowed to influence the evaluation.
  • Make the assessment in constructive and courteous language. Do not make derogatory personal comments that include hostility, slander, and insults.
  • They must perform the work they accept to evaluate on time and in the ethical responsibilities above.
