Discourse of New Turkey in Republican Era: A Comparative Analysis

Abstract

Discourse of ‘new’ always attracts people and they have tendency to go for the ‘new’ one. That is the exact reason why politicians concerning with gaining votes use this discourse. In this study, discourses of New Turkey in the early, medium and contemporary times of Turkish Republic are studied comparatively. Discourses of Ziya Gökalp, Doğan Avcıoğlu and AKP are examined by looking into their written works with method of content analysis. It is aimed to show similarities and clashes of these discourses originated from sources with different political backgrounds. In this analysis discourses of Ziya Gökalp, Doğan Avcıoğlu and AKP will be examined regarding reasons of change, its method, actors and aims. In the consequence part comparative analysis will be conducted.
